Put It Bluntly

“For lead singer Jack, Practical Lovers is not just a musical project but an entire personality. Taking to the stage clad all in black, and donning sunglasses, Jack performed his tracks – which are based around heartbreak and hatred of the chase – as though every lyric was ripping a hole in him, at times gripping the microphone stand with such angst that I thought he may break it. Bassist Mark on the other hand was almost a polar opposite, though also in black he had gone for the trendier waistcoat look, and while the vocalist remained stage bound
throughout Mark was soon off out into the crowd performing. The almost complete contradiction in character worked well as the guys, aided by a largely drum based backing track, performed an impressive set of eighties inspired synth, punk, pop type fusion. Definitely a band worth checking out.”
