WHO WE’RE RAISING FOR THIS YEAR…
NOTTINGHAM CITY HOSPITAL
THE WOLFSON CYSTIC FIBROSIS CENTRE
The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre transforms the care of this unique group of young patients by creating a ‘home in hospital’, where patients can not only receive all the treatment they need in one place, but also feel comfortable and at-home during the long periods of time they have to spend in hospital.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited diseases. It affects over 8,500 people in the UK with over two million people in the UK carrying the faulty gene that causes cystic fibrosis. This is around 1 in 25 of the population.
Cystic fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food. Each week, five babies are born with cystic fibrosis. Each week, three young lives are lost to cystic fibrosis. Around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer.
ROY STONE FOUNDATION
The Roy Stone Foundation has been set up to help find some answers to the complexity that surrounds mental health. Their aim is to raise the awareness and help reduce the stigma that is all too often attached to individuals experiencing mental health related conditions.
All proceeds, from all events will go to the foundation to support musical projects for young people, supported by musicians and friends of Roy. Also they would like to work with professionals who will help to educate and raise the awareness of mental health.
£7 advance tickets available from Canalhouse Bar and from Gigantic Tickets via the link below!
