INTERVIEW: GENERATION @ THE OLD BUS DEPOT THIS SATURDAY

Words by Jasmine Greener

With punk sounds, this band from Liverpool have been providing us with anthems and with their new addition of a killer drummer, they couldn’t be better. Their new release “Bang Bang Bang” had me so frustrated in the best way as I was humming it all after hearing it. It was stuck in my head but I wasn’t complaining one bit. The insanely catchy lyrics mixed with confident and moshable rhythms is the perfect concoction for an absolute banger – I can’t stop playing it. Another brilliant single to maintain their repeated releases of simply good music. Because who doesn’t love this generation? Just after supporting the incredible Crawlers at the sold out 02 academy Liverpool, they’re coming to Nottingham this Saturday to perform for us. Why not party with them?

How has your artistry evolved throughout your musical career to what we hear on your new single, “Bang Bang Bang”?

Our artistry has evolved in many different ways, but we would say that the 2 main things are that we have become better musicians technically & sonically, we now understand what it takes in order to get the exact sound/vibe that we want to get across to our fans and any new listeners… hey there 😉

Who would your dream collaboration be?

Our dream collaboration rn would be with someone like “yungblud”, “oil Sykes”, “ASAP Rocky”, or “MGK”. There are so many more but we will just keep it light. They all bring that matching energy but all approach it in a totally Different way. we feel that if we done a collab with any of these people Nando’s will deffo have to make a new spice Ivl sauce and name it after us cos it would be that hot n spicy … jheez

Which song of yours would you play to make someone who has never heard your music an instant fan?

I’d say the energy of Break Ur heart really captures what we’re about and is catchy enough to be stuck in your head all day long!

What artist has had the most impact and inspired you most as a band?

Honestly that’s a tough question, we don’t have one band that we could sit and say “yeah that’s who we draw inspo from” – we all listen to a varied selection so we bring in everything we got. We aren’t afraid to cross genres and really get stuck in. So yeah just everything and anything.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

WORLD DOMINATION BABY. We are so incredibly excited to see how far we can take this and are so determined to make great music and play explosive live shows for many years to come!

How do you – as a band – get yourself ready and pumped up for a gig?

We are huge advocates for lady Gaga booming through a speaker in the dressing room. We love to get ready together and just bounce of the excited/nervous vibes.

How did you all meet?

James and Dean are brothers so we met by default as siblings and then when it comes to Hattie, the power of the internet is a crazy thing. From there she came to one of our shows in London and the rest is history!

As a band, which artist do you think has had the most impact on the music industry?

Definitely yungblud, mgk for the pop punk scene, (hate comments pending) not even just the sound, the style and attitude. Tyler the creator, ASAP Rocky, there are just sooo many, all of these people take it further than just music, they influence style, music, business just everything. Maneskin are definitely bringing it back for the rock and roll scene!

What’s the most memorable gig you have performed?

1000% the gig we played recently supporting the mighty CRAWLERS at a sold out o2 academy in liverpool. This has always been a dream venue for us and the crowd were SO responsive. It was an absolute honour to share the stage with such incredible people also.
