After releasing their second album and feverously touring their show across the UK, nauttical rockers Seas of Mirth finally had a moment to catch their breath and curate a playlist for your listening pleasure. It’s a trip around the world in 30 songs. Setting sail to all seven continents you experience the glorious diversity of music made on our little green planet with a few perilous moments amongst the Seas of Mirth!
Here is what the band had to say…
“Well I’ll be screwed, blued and tattooed. Seas of Mirth have been tasked with the grand challenge of compiling maximum boss tuneage for the scurvacious INFL crew – so we thought we’d take you on a grand voyage of the vast globe we live upon in the process. Let’s call it Around The World In 30 Songs, or something like that… that’s right, flat-earthers! Emphasis on the “round” and “globe”. Anyway, we’ve pilfered the finest music from all seven continents (except the non-musical one of course) so enjoy one hell of a mish-mashed celebration of weird and wonderful sounds, with a couple of classics chucked in for good measure too.
Let it be told, however, this is not the first time we have unleashed this musical circumnavigation. We DJed most of this as a set on a Sunday afternoon in a field near Middlesbrough last September, to which 3 people and 5 cows were in attendance. Naturally, after this we decided it was time we took this sort of thing to great heights: SPOTIFY. So grab your world map and pins, don’t forget your tipple either, and hop aboard – there’s not a moment to lose.
We start at the port of Helsinki with…
Pepe Deluxe (Finland), Goat (Sweden), Mugison (Iceland), Alarmist (Rep. Ireland), Arcade Fire (Canada), Beats Antique & Les Claypool (USA), Harry Belafonte (Jamaica), Meridian Brothers (Colombia), Novos Baianos (Brazil), Matias Aguayo (Chile), Unknown Mortal Orchestra (New Zealand), Men At Work (Australia) Onuma Singsiri (Thailand), Tricot (Japan), Tuvan National Orchestra (Russia/Mongolia), Mohammed Rafi (India), Zun Zun Egui (Maritius), Slim Ali (Kenya), Mahmoud Ahmed (Ethiopia), Mbwongwana Star (Democratic Rep. Congo), Songhoy Blues (Mali), Islam Chipsy (Egypt), Omar Souleyman (Syria), Imam Baildi (Greece), Lajko Felix (Hungary), Warsaw Village Band (Poland), Kraftwerk (Germany), Focus (The Netherlands), Air (France), El Guincho (Spain).
Whoops. Forgot about the UK… ahhh never mind…”
