KAZIMI: A Review of Their Hypnotic New Track ‘Errant Nodes’

You know that moment on a dancefloor when a track shifts and the whole room seems to lean in at once? ‘Errant Nodes’ is built from moments like that… Kazimi pack it with melodic hooks, punchy synths and a joyful sense of momentum, then keep finding new places to take it.

Don't expect it to sit still. The band say the track moves through plenty of different moods and dynamics, with a fairly complex structure underneath, yet it never loses its sense of purpose. Credit for that polish goes in part to Steve Poppleton, who mixed and mastered it. INSTAGRAM | YOUTUBE | SPOTIFY | TIKTOK

Take the euphoric drive of Daft Punk, the punch of The Prodigy, the pop-minded hooks of Charli XCX, and the technical flair of Knower and Evan Marien. Mix them through a live jazz-trained band from Manchester and you're somewhere near 'Errant Nodes'.

Kazimi aren't a DJ act and they aren't a conventional jazz group either. Tom Chapman and Jon Needham, both trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, describe their sound as a futuristic DJ jazz set gone haywire, played entirely live. This new single is the most dancefloor-minded version of that idea so far: a pumping, synth-driven track with big melodic hooks and joyous energy. It sits happily alongside its influences without sounding like any one of them, and that's no small thing.

For anyone curious about where Manchester's Kazimi are heading, this is a strong place to start before their debut EP arrives in early 2027.
