The fitting room is where you stand alone with yourself and decide what actually fits. Not what looks right from the outside. Not what other people have told you should work. What actually, genuinely, honestly fits. Dutch singer-songwriter Lily Franc, twenty-one years old, a classically trained violinist since five who pivoted to songwriting at sixteen and has since won first prize at Kunstbende Overijssel, been awarded the Universal Voice Institute's fully funded study place, and demonstrated Spotify listener crossover with Taylor Swift fans, has built her six-track debut EP around that single defining question: who do I no longer have to pretend to be?

The violin runs through every track as an unmistakable signature. The songs move through coming-of-age territory with the empathy of an artist who approaches her characters without judgement, finding in each of them not a moral lesson but an honest human situation. 'Burnt Out Gifted Kids Club' is a portrait of someone whose identity has become entirely inseparable from achievement. 'Fun Sponge' brings playful funk against the pressure to appear emotionally detached. 'Under The Weather' navigates the emotional distance genuinely required to move on. 'Old Leather Jacket' transforms unrequited love into a question of self-worth. 'Soldier' examines what emotional equality in a relationship actually demands. 'For Old Times Sake' closes with the recognition that nostalgia can be honoured without letting it become a trap.

The blend of indie pop, country pop and folk with touches of Broadway and funk reflects a songwriter whose creative influences are broad and whose absorption of them is genuine. Comparisons to Gracie Abrams, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, Olivia Rodrigo and Carole King locate the territory without defining what Lily Franc is doing within it.

The fitting room is not somewhere you stay. It is where you decide what you're taking with you when you leave. This EP sounds like exactly that decision being made.
