‘The Game’ is the most recent instalment in a five-single collection recorded across five days at Mill Farm Studios and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Shawn Joseph.
Formed in 2022 but built on more than a decade of shared musical chemistry, Dream Robbery are a Yeovil, Somerset trio whose sound threads romantic, wistful melancholy through alchemically balanced distortion. Honest songwriting drawn from lived experience gives every track its own emotional charge and every live performance a uniquely intense atmosphere, creating music intended to stay with listeners throughout their lives.
“A true reflection of my life and my personal belief. Honesty and my total transparency,” the band says of the single.
It was written in five minutes (not a bad thing!) The band's frontman describes 'The Game' as one of those rare, pure moments where a song simply arrives fully formed, written in a single evening with a glass of whiskey, a Spiritualized record and an acoustic guitar for company.
The songwriter's day job shapes the song. As a frontline 999 ambulance worker, his lived experience feeds directly into the track's emotional weight, filtered through the ever-present influence of love and life.
Nothing was trimmed or doubled. The band chose to record 'The Game' true to the sound of their instruments and vocals, deliberately avoiding extra trimming or double tracking to preserve its rawness.
The chemistry runs deep. Dream Robbery only officially formed as a band in 2022, but the Yeovil, Somerset trio have spent over a decade building the creative connection that now defines their sound, drawing on influences including The Beta Band, John Martyn and Spiritualized.
