'MOMENTUM' - is building for Mollie Ralph...

From the opening brooding keys on Mollie's latest single Momentum you know this single’s a bit special, a powerful darker Adele like-intro with Mollie's voice reminiscent of Kate Bush in some bits and even a slight Beth Gibbons in others.
The ominous intro sets the pace for the drama that follows...
The track charts the dying embers of a relationship from the perspective of someone looking back at the clear signs that the other was wanting to go but not wanting to see it. The relationship, like Bruce Willis in the curtain pulling moment in Sixth Sense - is dead.
‘There’s a shadow in your smile that won’t leave’, wishing for someone that ain't real, I'm awake and I know that the silence lives in you'
"You never said a word when it was dying because you’d already gone
I never was your concern, I was the only one trying cos- you'd already gone"
This line ends with an odd key change that suddenly drops the track into a wierd almost psychedelic dream’ - the spiralling mic drop moment at the end, the sickly realisation of the new state of play.
Momentum is a beautifully written bittersweet track and all the more poignant for it.
